...are now available on International Higher Education Consulting Blog's YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/IHECBlog.  The purpose of this YouTube project is to host as many international education related channel subscriptions as I can find so that one can come to one central location to search for and view video content specific to international educational and cultural exchanges.

Looking for 400th International Education Related YouTube Channel Subscription

I've gone on a little subscription spree lately on YouTube.  Specifically, I been adding to the international education list on IHEC Blog's YouTube channel and the other day I reached 399 subscription and I'm looking for Number 400!  While there is some original video content that I have posted to my YouTube channel my main purpose with setting up the channel in the first place was to turn it into a clearing house of international education video content.

If you have a YouTube channel that focuses on international education I would love to hear from you.  Drop me a note in the comment section below, send me a DM on Twitter (@DavidComp) or send me an e-mail at international.ed.consulting@gmail.com. You can access my YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/IHECBlog.

264 International Education/Exchange Related YouTube Channel Subscriptions

Back in November 2009 I created the IHEC Blog YouTube channel as a way to compile a subscription list of all international education/exchange related channels on YouTube.   I posted to IHEC Blog about this new network and in the first week I had 13 subscriptions.  As of last night (when I wrote this post), I have compiled a subscription list of 264 channels related to international education and exchange which you can view here.

Do you manage or know of a related YouTube channel that is not on this subscription list?  If so please leave a comment below or send me an e-mail at international.ed.consulting@gmail.com with the link (and a brief description of the channel if it is not already on the channel) and I’ll add it.

You may need to pay for Cable or Satellite but you can watch international education/exchange videos on IHEC Blog’s YouTube channel for free!  Okay, you can watch most shows for free on the internets these days…

Video of the Week - IHEC Blog Interview with Ruth Sylte about GoAbroad.com & Social Media at #nafsa10

During the 2008 NAFSA annual conference in Washington, DC, Ruth Sylte of the Manitou Heights Group interviewed me about my blog and how use it to tie in with my side consulting business (International Higher Education Consulting).  Ruth uploaded it to her YouTube channel it was my first taste of YouTube (aside from watching funny videos) and the potential this medium has to offer the field of international education as well as my own consulting work.

As I was sitting at O'Hare Airport on my way to the NAFSA annual conference last week in Kansas City I came up with the idea of doing my own interviews with colleagues and posting them to IHEC Blog's YouTube channel.  Well, I was successful in that I was able to conduct three brief interviews with great colleagues.  What I like best is that the topics discussed with my colleagues are all very different and will represent a specific IHEC Blog theme of the week for two more weeks.  With the exception of Monday of this week, all IHEC Blog posts this week have focused on technology/social media use in international education.  I find it fitting to end this week of posts with my interview with Ruth at the GoAbroad.com booth (@GoAbroad on Twitter) for this video of the week!

Interrupting all Programmes…Video of the Week ~The Australia Project Student Documentary Trailer

Today on IHEC Blog I’m starting what I hope will become an interesting and ongoing Friday feature. The new “Video of the Week” series will compliment the “Links of Interest” post every Friday. For this initial post I selected “The Australia Project Student Documentary Trailer” from the AustraLearn YouTube channel. Here is a brief summary of The Australia Project that I copied and pasted from the channel:

“A student developed documentary created by two film students on an AustraLearn internship in Australia. Learn more or request a free copy of the DVD at www.australearn.org/AustraliaProject

Check out more of AustraLearn’s videos on their YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/AustraLearn. Additionally, you may want to follow AustraLearn on Twitter here and you can find them on Facebook here.

IHEC Blog’s YouTube Channel is Looking for Subscription Recommendations

A little over a week ago I created a YouTube channel for IHEC Blog. I decided to create a YouTube channel primarily for my research activities as well as a way for me to find and archive (favorite) interesting videos related to international education and public/citizen diplomacy. The side benefit is that IHEC Blog’s channel can serve as a clearinghouse for all international education and public/citizen diplomacy related channels on YouTube. Building up the subscriptions will be a slow process but as I come across channels of interest I will subscribe to them. Additionally, as I come across videos of interest I will add them to my list of favorites. Here are the YouTube channels I have subscribed to so far:

U.S. Center for Citizen Diplomacy (
