The Emergency Coalition to Defend Educational Travel (ECDET)

The Emergency Coalition to Defend Educational Travel (ECDET) was formed in 2004 in opposition of President Bush’s decision to restrict academic travel to Cuba. ECDET is based out of Washington, DC and is chaired by Wayne Smith of Johns Hopkins University. On November 4th, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit issued an opinion on the ECDET v.
