International Education Books You May Want To Consider Adding To Your Library

Last night I was searching through my International Education Book Store  as I received word form Amazon that they may need to close my account if the Illinois State Legislature passes some law (I don't know the specifics).  I'll report on this here on IHEC Blog if this happens.  Anyway...

I thought I would simply post some book covers of recent international education books I think are of interest (you can click on the the individual book covers below to learn more about the book on Amazon)  The following books are just a sampling of the nearly 230 books currently available in my international education book store.

Getting Children Interested in Traveling Like Babar

Yesterday while my wife was working (incoming first-year students arrived at the University of Chicago yesterday) I took my children to the 57th Street Book Fair in my neighborhood (Hyde Park, Chicago).  It was a great time and my kids were excited to have me purchase a bunch of new books for them!  While browsing through all of the book stands I came across the book “The Travels of Babar” [affiliate link] and I started thinking about children’s books that take the reader to far away places and instill an excitement and curiosity for travel and meeting others who are different than themselves.

What books do you recommend for children (say ages 1 to 12) that will hopefully educate and bring about an excitement for travel and adventure in far away lands?

Perhaps a similar post to IHEC Blog about children's television programs and movies will surface in the future (I wanted to do this over a year ago but alas time got away from me).

107 Books now available in the IHEC Blog Bookstore

Back in March I announced that I created a new bookstore for IHEC Blog via Amazon.com.  Since then I have been slowly adding to the Bookstore and this weekend I spent some time searching for relevant books and added them to the Bookstore.  As of this post there are 107 books available in the IHEC Blog Bookstore at http://astore.amazon.com/interhigheedu-20.  With a few exceptions I have only added books that include a thumbnail picture of the front cover as I find that helpful when I search for books.  If you have a book that I should add to the Bookstore please send me an e-mail at international.ed.consulting@gmail.com or leave a comment below.

The IHEC Blog International Education Bookstore

Recently I created the IHEC Blog International Education Book Store via Amazon.com and had a soft/quiet launch about three weeks ago. The little activity and traffic that I can track has been positive.  I mentioned previously in a post that IHEC Blog is now an Amazon Associate (you can read more about that here). I’ve now taken this a step further and have created an international education book store on Amazon.com. All books that I have and will review or highlight on IHEC Blog will be linked to Amazon for people to learn more about the book and to purchase if they would like. Additionally, all books reviewed and highlighted on IHEC Blog will be added to the book store. The book store is currently divided into the following five sections to assist with searching for books:
- International Education and Exchange
- IHEC Blog Kindle Edition (reminder that all proceeds will be donated to UNICEF)
- Resources for International Careers
- Public/Citizen Diplomacy
- Higher Education

If you have a book that you think would be a good addition to the IHEC Blog International Education Book Store please send me a message via e-mail at international.ed.consulting@gmail.com or via Twitter at @DavidComp with information about the book and I’ll check it out. While I am open to including almost all relevant books in the book store please note and understand that I may decide not to include a certain book. Additionally, if you have a book you would like me to review please feel free to contact me so we can discuss and coordinate.
