Many institutions of higher education in the U.S. issuing statements on #DACA

...and someone should compile a list as it won't be me this time!

Update September 17, 2017:  The Soren Peterson DACA statement list now links to 259 college and university statements and links to 32 associations, program providers, and joint statements.  List available on GeoAnth Research at http://www.geoanth.com/daca.

Update September 15, 2017:  Links to 130+ DACA statements issued by institutions of higher education and associations compiled by Soren Peterson available on GeoAnth Research at http://www.geoanth.com/daca.

Many thanks to Soren for your work on compiling this important list!

Back on January 29th I compiled a Running List of University/College and Higher Education Organization/Association Responses to President Trump's Executive Order Entitled "Protecting the Nation from Terrorist Entry into the United States by Foreign Nationals" Issued January 27, 2017 on IHEC Blog.  That was an enormous task and I don't have the time this week to compile a list of institutional statements on DACA.

  1. I now have added a total of 25 schools and 3 higher education associations that have issued #DACA statements since the weekend. A young savvy person who wants to enter the field of international education should compile a list of institutions and associations issuing DACA statements. Once they have 50+ links to institutional statements (they can feel free to use what I have so far as I have them half way there) they should then announce to the field via the NAFSA networks, SECUSS-L, INTER-L and other online communication tools alerting colleagues that the list exists and if any institutional statements are missing to forward them on to be added to the list. They should have this list of schools on their own website/blog (or create one) where their name and contact information is visible. They should also send a note (Twitter sufficient) to the PIE News, E.Redding at InsideHigherEd & K.Fischer at the Chronicle with the hope they link to the list on their website where they will receive traffic and views of their list where their name and contact information is visible. Assuming it's a substantial list one could have it as an entry on their resume and talk about the list and it's value to the field in any application letters or, more importantly, in any interviews they may have. Who knows, a link to their list may even be cited as a footnote in an amicus brief submitted to the U.S. Supreme Court by Association of American Universities (AAU) and the Attorney General of the State of New York (http://bit.ly/2wGEgkg). Maybe this won't happen but maybe it will.
All of this, of course, takes much time and effort but it will benefit the field and benefit the person who compiles the list. I just can't do it this week as work is crazy busy into the evening every day this week then I head to my full-time job of dad and soccer practice duty then home to work on writing a stimulus paper for my upcoming talk at the IEAA Research Roundtable in Hobart, Tasmania (https://www.ieaa.org.au/documents/item/1080). If I didn't have to finish my paper I would be all over this! :-)

    2. Hello Søren! Thank you for taking this on!!!

Once you are finished compiling the list, could you also post a link to the list here on this thread? I receive the SECUSS-L emails, but since there are so many I tend to miss some of them. I've bookmarked this thread so I can check back on it occasionally to see if there is a new link.

Thank you again for assisting with this!!!
