Presentation went fairly well but final question to me at the end of the panel did stump me.  My confusion was mostly how I was defining "transnational education" and what the audience member was asking.  Good question not a great answer...

Speaking at Forum on "Education Policy in the Trump Presidency, One Year In" at Loyola University Chicago on January 26, 2018 – 3-5pm

I was a last minute invite (yesterday) to fill in to present and sit on a panel for the "Education Policy in the Trump Presidency, One Year In" forum presented by the Cultural and Educational Policy Studies program at Loyola University of Chicago this Friday, January 26th from 3:00-5:00pm in the Galvin Auditorium at Loyola’s Lakeshore campus (Sullivan Center, 6339 N Sheridan Rd).

• Mirana Johnson from Loyola's School of Law will discuss civil rights and K-12 students
• Amy Shuffelton from Loyola's School of Education will discuss sexual harassment and Title IX
• Demetri Morgan from Loyola's School of Education will discuss higher education financing and student loans
• I'll be speaking on Internationalizaition and International Student Mobility.

The previous speaker had to pull out so my Ph.D. director Noah Sobe, who is coordinating the event, invited me to fill in.

I received my Ph.D. from Loyola's Cultural & Educational Policy Studies program in 2013 and my area of concentration was Comparative and International Education.

Two-Week Summer Graduate Seminar on Study Abroad in Rome, Italy

Loyola University Chicago’s School of Education will again be offering a unique opportunity this summer for graduate students to participate in a two-week (July 4-17, 2010) graduate seminar focusing on U.S. students who study abroad at Loyola’s John Felice Rome Center Campus.

The seminar is ELPS 429: U.S. Students Abroad: Lessons from Rome in Cultural Immersion (see the summer 2009 syllabus here) carries 3 graduate level semester hours and will be taught by Terry Williams. I’m a doctoral student at Loyola in Comparative and International Education and while I never took this course, due to work conflicts, I’ve only heard positive feedback from those I’ve known who have taken the course. Terry Williams has taught this same course in Rome for several summers now.

Of special note: The John Felice Rome Center is the oldest continually operating U.S. university program in Italy.

Loyola University Chicago is First U.S. Institution to Have Site Location in Vietnam

The Loyola University Chicago University Newsroom is reported on March 11th that it has become the first institution in the United States to establish a site location in Vietnam.

I received this news update through my Loyola University Chicago student e-mail account as I’m a doctoral student in the Cultural and Educational Policy Studies Program focusing on Comparative and International Education.

Here is a snippet of the press release:

“CHICAGO, March 11, 2009 - Loyola University Chicago has partnered with the Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training to establish a University Representative Office in Ho Chi Minh City. The partnership, which became official in February, makes Loyola the first University in the nation to have a site location in Vietnam.Through the office, Loyola will work in three critical areas of need: English as a Second Language (ESL) education for health-care professionals, leadership programs for Vietnamese professionals and administrators, and study-abroad programs for U.S. students. Details and timing of the ESL and leadership programs are still being worked out. However, the study abroad program will commence this summer.”
