3-2 victory !!
On his 13th birthday my son (with my wife) flew to Barcelona, Spain for fĂștbol/soccer games, training and exploring (more on this later). He played 4 games yesterday (2 games each at U13 and U14 levels).
The following is a photo and text message his coach sent to the parent WhatsApp group distribution list:
A proud father I am! Great example of sports diplomacy! The international education researcher in me can't help but to think deeply about the impact this experience will have on all of those boys in that photo, Spanish boys in green & my son's team in white.

"Tough. Jog on." - Well done University of Reading!
We've had feedback over the last week that some people are unhappy with our plan to offer up to 14 scholarships to refugees living in the local area. To these people, we would like to say: Tough. Jog on. https://t.co/ioDLPp5crw

We agree with @UniofReading and are proud of our Equal Access Scholarships, which allow students fleeing conflict an opportunity to study at the University (see: https://t.co/6Qa8fYhXOO). Thanks to support by a range of donors including @YorkAlumni and @UniofYork staff. pic.twitter.com/7MeB17DXbd
